Aesthetics can mean different things to different people. For the ADSS, the following definition is a good reference: “the philosophical theory or set of principles governing the idea of beauty at a given time and place”
As dental professionals, members of the ADSS know that procedures performed for our patients must conform to principles and standards that will serve — to not only enhance appearance — but preserve good health. Achieving this requires continual study and training.
As indicated by the overlapping petals in the ADSS logo, delivering an aesthetic result for our patients requires the amalgamation of knowledge in diverse fields like biology, material science and art with clinical and technical skills. This often requires the coordinated work of a team of highly trained professionals to deliver comprehensive treatment.
The Society organizes meetings, lectures and workshops to raise the awareness of the science – and art – of aesthetics in dental practice for our members and their teams comprising technicians, hygienists, dental assistants and support staff.
To keep up with the rapid changes in technologies and treatment philosophy, ADSS will be collaborating with international organisations to bring to Singapore leaders in the field.
The major project that we are planning is “Dental Aesthetics Meeting in Asia” (DAMA) in October 2018. This will see ADSS working with the Asian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (AAAD) and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD).
Exciting times are ahead of us and I welcome all members to actively contribute and benefit from our activities.
